Book of the Month
'Noughts and Crosses' by Malorie Blackman
'Noughts and Crosses' has become a bit of a classic of science fiction. It is science fiction in the vein of '1984' or 'Brave New World', in other words it is set in a future society where things have gone horribly wrong. This society is brutally segregated (the Noughts on one side and the Crosses on the other) and the story involves 2 people trying to bridge the divide. This book is very relevant to our own society today. The story can be read as a tale about poverty, prejudice and sectarianism, as well as an exciting action thriller. It is the first of a trilogy.

Esio Trot is about an old man(Mr Hoppy) who is in love with his downstairs nieghbour(Mrs Silver)a widow who is oblivious to this as she loves her pet tortiose, Alfie. Mrs Silver is worried about Alfie's weight then Mr Hoppy tells her about the Mysterious spell Esio trot and then each day he gets a little bigger. How is this happening? Will Mr Hoppy ever pluck up the gut to tell Mrs Silver? And what is the tortiose-catcher
Mr Dahl's stories are always a pleasure to read acompanied by the ilistrations of Mr Blake.
30&40S Britain John Guy
The book i read was 30&40s Britain and it was about the way of life during the second world war.It tells you how they cleaned,cooked etc it also gives you alot of information about the war.The book has lots of smashing pictures etc.Like it shows you photos of some poor people and how they lived and what they would wear.And what rich people would wear.
Over all i think the book is a really interesting book to read...
